Renal Care Compass App Making life with renal failure a little easier

The Renal Care Compass has been developed to support patients in their everyday life. The diagnosis of having renal failure and undergoing dialysis treatment three to four times a week is not easy for many people. This is why we want to support these people not only through our products but also by helping them in their everyday lives.

The Renal Care Compass offers added value for the user. The fitness area helps the afflicted people choose exercises that are appropriate for dialysis patients.

The nutrition area allows the user to see all important information about different foods. The food diary is another special feature helping patients to monitor their daily nutritional intake. Of course, we do not give any recommendations but merely provide guidance for the patient. Likewise, the patient can show or send these values to his/her doctor to provide him/her with important indications during therapy.

In order to support dialysis patients in planning their holidays, the app offers the holiday dialysis area, where they can locate their present location or state their holiday location and find a renal care center close to their desired destination. The patient can contact the center directly and thus prepare the holiday dialysis in the best possible way.

To ensure that the patient is well informed about living with dialysis, the Renal Care Compass offers the category Informational material, where the user can find brochures on renal care and the patient magazine. All information concerning dialysis and living with dialysis is collected here and therefore not only provides entertainment during dialysis but also support and information for everyday life.

Dragos Ionut Bunoiu

Dragos Ionut Bunoiu, 42, artist, journalist and an entrepreneur. Is a patient undergoing dialysis treatment in a B. Braun Renal Care Center in Timisoara, Romania. An ambitious man that is passionate about his work and driven to maintain his health in good condition with sports. He knows how to balance his nutrition, even though he does not cook for himself, and is currently learning to keep his thirst sensation under control.

Dragos Ionut Bunoiu has been receiving dialysis treatment at the B. Braun Renal Care Center in Timisoara since 2016.

I have been doing dialysis treatments since December 2016.

Taking into account the medical analysis results, it should be extremely important. I had to start avoiding many types of ingredients and recipes I used to eat, due to their high phosphorus intake.

I like the Holiday Dialysis section. In addition, I would like to see more information about the rest of B. Braun dialysis centers in Europe.

As I do not cook myself, unfortunately I cannot say that I have tried.

I exercise regularly while on dialysis. In addition, I swim and do cardio exercises two times a week.

It is quite difficult. I do not drink alcohol or juices, I avoid heavy cooked food, I fully limit the salt, but I find it extremely difficult to get rid of thirst sensation and I drink a lot of water.

Velea Ioan

Velea Ioan, 33, quality technician supervisor, nowadays retired. Is a patient undergoing dialysis treatment in a B. Braun Renal Care Center in Timisoara, Romania. Is a man who cares about his nutrition, loves to cook and eat within the restrictions to his diet. Being retired has given him more time to take care of his health and move more freely even though he has to undergo dialysis treatments.

Velea Ioan has been receiving dialysis treatment now for five and a half years.

I have been doing dialysis for 51/2 years.

The food is very important to me. At first I could not eat but following the dialysis treatment, I felt better, my appetite increased and I gained strength. Meanwhile, I got used to food restrictions.

RCC App is very helpful. I find the information about nutrition and general information materials to be extremely useful.

I haven´t tried yet any recipe, but I found some really interesting.

Sport is more than welcomed, especially because you feel the need to move in those long four treatment hours; at home it is easier, you can move freely.

It was rather hard with the fluid intake at first, but as dialysis years past, I have built small strategies to control the fluid quantity. E.g.: If I eat a clear soup I do not drink water or, in summer, I drink water as cold as possible.
