Uherský Brod is a town located approximately 23 kilometers from the Slovakian border, in the foothills of the White Carpathians. The area is a protected landscape area, designated a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve in 1996. You will be greeted with breathtaking natural scenery and rare indigenous flora and fauna.

Tourist attractions in the town and surrounding areas

  • Town Fortifications - in the 13th century, the town of Uherský Brod was fortified with a simple, but strong, protective wall, the remains of which can still be seen in its southern and the northern parts.
  • The high school of J. A. Komensky - the first class was opened here at the beginning of the 1896-1897 school year. In this place stood the school which the young Jan attended. Jan Amos Komensky was a teacher, educator, and writer; he is often considered the father of modern education. He lived and worked in many different countries in Europe.
  • White Carpathians Protected Landscape Area - a UNESCO biosphere reserve since 1996 Luhačovice - One of the country‘s most popular spa resorts, located about 12 kilometers from Uhersky Brod. The local spa treatments have a 300-year tradition. The town has 17 natural mineral springs, which are used for drinking, inhalation therapy and bath treatments.
  • Vlčnov - This town, famous for its wine making traditions, is often referred to as the 'Pearl of Moravian Slovakia.' Located on the outskirts of the town are forty-one historically protected buildings. They are ground clay, brick and timber mills called "Búdy," accompanied by a wine chapel, dating from the 18th to 20th centuries. This is the largest historically protected group of wine making establishments in the Czech Republic.
  • Velehrad - One of the country‘s best known pilgrimage sites, which is closely tied to the Slavic tradition of Saints Cyril and Methodius. Not far from here, you can visit the open-air archaeological museum Modra.
