Due to its industrial character, the town has few monuments, but the immediate neighbourhood of Ajka offers many sights in addition to the City Park, the Park Woods, the local museums, public sculptures and churches. Úrkút, Padragkút and Magyarpolány are old traditional Swabian villages with picturesque peasant houses and forest paths inviting for long walks. The Somló Hill to the west of the town is another touristic sight with its internationally renowned wines, country houses and chapels. Ajka is a green town boasting a Hild medal, which used to be the home of writer István Fekete. The City Park is the nicest park in the town. A boating lake can be found there. It is a nice leafy area, a refreshing part of the industrial town. There are a high number of public statutes at Ajka. The most valuable historical monument of the town is found in the section named ‘Tósokberénd.’ It is a parish church of late baroque style completed in 1808 located at Saint István road that surprises visitors with its unexpected size. In the memorial garden next to the Church, there are 9 wooden headboards recalling the memory of the heroes of Tósokberénd who lost their lives in World War I.
